Ph.D, where he also earned a M.S. in Aeronautical
Engineering. He graduated with a BS in
Aeronautical Engineering from West Virginia
university, first in a class of 4,000. Jerry
has over 25 years experience in composite design,
material selection and development of unusual,
automated composite processing systems. He
has considerable background in military application
of composites, including management of development
efforts for military shelters requiring ballistic
protection while a Senior Technical Specialist
at the US Army Natick RDEC.
He founded
KaZaK in 1992, principally working on SBIR
contract awards. The company has excelled
over the years in solving complex materials
applications challenges and has built a solid
R & D reputation in technical military
circles. Dr. Fanucci has many patents in
the area of composites and pultrusion. |

Rick
Balonis -Director of Manufacturing Operations
Rick currently manages KaZaK Composites'
facilities in Hudson, NH which comprises both
KaZaK's composite R and D and manufacturing operations.
He has over 18 years experience in composite
design and processing, with particular expertise
in pultrusion, braiding and RTM. Rick has managed
numerous research programs developing high-performance
products for the aerospace, military and commercial
markets. His speciality is in large and unusual
composite pultrusion processing, such as a 3
to 20 foot adjustable composite aircraft maintenance
stand, the MERWS composite rigid wall shelter,
Navy CVN polyurethane flexible stanchion and
large naval ship structures. Prior to working
at KaZaK, Rick was involved in several product
development projects, including the development
of sporting goods, fire safety equipment and
automotive components. In those roles, Rick managed
the production processes which include polyurethane
foam injection, proprietary computer automated
2-D and 3-D braiding, vacuum assisted resin transfer
molding, pultrusion, machining, finishing and
testing. Rick has B.S. and M.S. in Materials
Engineering from Drexel University in 1991. His
graduate research involved the investigation
the impact performance of 3D-reinforced composite
panels versus typical laminate constructions.
